then, the san francisco giants won the world series. they had never won while being the san francisco giants, and it had been 58 year since they had won as the new york giants. needless to say, san francisco decided to celebrate in a very big way with a large scale parade. on the wednesday we were going to the matinee show. right at the time we were to arrive. at the stop we would need to get off to access the theatre. adventure!!
the picture above shows a smattering of the crowd. it took about 30 minutes to buy tickets for BART, our public transit. it took a long time for us to get above ground from the tunnels, and even longer to walk any of the area blocks. there were people simply everywhere. we managed to hunker down in a starbucks for a bit since any meaningful travel was not going to be possible.we enjoyed the show immensely. it was at the orpheum theatre, an opulent old building with loads of charm. we then wandered to a local restaurant for much needed cocktails and dinner. a rousing success i would say.
